A Sweet and Savory Dessert by Chef Koussaila
This creamy Greek pudding is a perfect dessert for events and receptions. It’s easy to make, but will definitely impress your guests with its rich and delicate flavors. As a private chef in Montreal, I have created many desserts for my clients that have been well received.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup short-grain rice
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice with cold water and drain.
- In a saucepan, combine the rice, water, milk, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Heat over medium-high heat until boiling, then reduce heat to medium-low.
- Simmer the rice for about 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender and the mixture is creamy.
- Remove from heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Add the vanilla extract and butter, stirring until the butter is melted.
- Pour the pudding into individual ramekins and let cool to room temperature.
- Top with chopped pistachios and drizzle with honey before serving.
Serve this delicious Greek pudding with coffee or tea for a perfectly Mediterranean dessert.
